All members undertaking dives, whether with the club or with other groups and clubs, should inform our Dive Officer, Dave Whittam before they dive. This is a mandatory BSAC club and insurance requirement.
Cornwall July 2008:
Nick returned to Cornwall, diving with Port Kerris divers, rib-diving on the Manacles, Volney and
Mohegan wrecks. Ace jewell anemones, a sun fish hovering over the Mohegan, but quite poor viz.
Excellent spot well worth a vist.
The north coast of Cornwall was a revalation. Diving with Steve from Harlyn dive centre, launch the
RIB out of Rock, near Padstow, then out into 15-25m viz, with a fair tide and swell. Scenic dives
around Newland Island followed by an excellent 28m deep wreck dive, the Sphene. Not very well known,
but should be, intact wreck covered in fish, perfect visibility, a contender for best dive of the year!
The divers and skipper then adjourn to the local pub for the local Sharps Doom Bar beer.

Ribble Valley - St Kilda:
Nick grabbed an opportunity to visit St Kilda on a live aboard the Elisabeth G,
from Oban, with Ribble Valley BSAC.
Despite a summer of rain and wind we managed to reach St Kilda on the Tuesday after diving around
Skye for 3 days. 3 days diving in clear blue water plus exploring the wild island of Hirta made a
memorable trip.
Diving in the inner Hebrides included: East wall of Eigg, Port Napier wreck near the Kyle and scenic
dives in the clear waters east of Portree. After a 6 hour choppy crossing to reach Kilda a late dive
in the caves off Duns island ensued. The following days saw wall dives on the SE side of Hirta, the
Sawcut and the Tunnel on the east face of Boreray. A trip down to 40 meters on the Ronda in the
Sound of Mull broke the long journey back to Oban.
Red Sea 2008: Nick, Liz and Dave returned for a leisurely week at Sharm-El-Sheikh, shore based, 3 dives per day with Emporer divers. Dive report to follow.
